I am an experienced Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC) specializing in Substance Use Disorders, EMDR-Trauma, and Medication Assisted Therapy.
My top priority is that my clients feel understood, valued, and hopeful. I received my Masters Degree from Colorado State University in Addictions Counseling and received my Bachelors degree in Psychology from Ohio University. I have spent time in a variety of clinical settings such as community mental health, addiction treatment centers; in-patient and out-patient settings, and the criminal justice system.
I'm committed to providing a caring, encouraging and positive experience for my client, focusing on helping them find solutions to their issues. Drug and alcohol addiction can be extremely painful to individuals as well as their families.
The strength of the therapeutic relationship becomes the opportunity and vehicle for empowerment and healthy change. I am a results-oriented professional utilizing a variety of therapeutic approaches based on proven evidence-based practices. I meet my client in the correct stage of their challenge to produce positive results.
My clinical specialties include:
As I enter LexTy’s office each morning, I never forget to recognize the privilege of working with such courageous, strong, and talented individuals as they change their lives, filling their future with hope.
I graduated from the State University of New York at Potsdam with my bachelors degree in psychology. Upon graduating from Potsdam, I moved to Colorado to pursue my masters in addictions counseling and to conduct substance use research.
I am a registered psychotherapist, and now have a masters in addictions counseling from Colorado State University. The research I conduct allows me to educate myself on the most recent advances in addictions therapy. I have been accepted to a PhD in counseling program, and will begin that program in the fall of 2019.
My clinical experience includes a semester of internship at the Rose Hill Adolescent Chemical Dependency program in Messena New York, and 14 months of internship at Larimer County Community Corrections in Fort Collins Colorado. A great deal of my clinical training has been focused on helping people who struggle with substance use issues.
I strive to create a comfortable and accepting space for each person I work with. I believe that eliminating the stigma behind substance use and treating it like any other behavioral or psychological issue allows me to create trusting and judgement free relationships with clients.
I am also passionate about helping people work on anxiety related issues, mood disorders like depression, relationship/communication skills, and other mental health or behavioral issues.
